Follow these steps to learn how to soothe your ingrown toenails while treating yourself.
- Set the environment! Begin with candles and relaxing music and fragrance. You can set up your spa in the bedroom, living room, or bathroom. Natural lighting and an ambient environment is the best place to do your foot spa.
- Set up! Fill a tub with warm water. Ensure both feet fit comfortably inside the tub. The tub can be a plastic container or anything that can fit your feet. You may also add marbles or stones for your feet to sit on.
- Ingredients! Add your favorite oils and herbs along with the Epsom salt. Squirt in some bubble bath solution for bubbles as well. A few great oils for both aromatherapy and fragrance are lavender or peppermint! You can add practically anything natural to enhance your bath experience, even fruit, and oats!
- Touch it up! With a mint leaf, or fresh flower petals. Go the extra mile with a cup of powdered milk or 1 tablespoon of almond oil to soften your feet.
- Soak! Finally, after all the effort you’ve put into creating your foot spa it is now time to soak your feet. Take a seat and soak your feet for at least 15 minutes. Once you are done, and your feet are soft, exfoliate to remove excess dead skin. You can increase blood flow to the foot with a good massage and finish up your spa day with an at-home pedicure. Remember to use sterile utensils and to always cut the nails straight to avoid the opportunity of developing an ingrown!
